crazy embroidered critters

So embroidery impaired me has started some trial runs on the embroidered creatures that seem to be all over a lot of the 1607ish era jackets I've been looking at. I love the idea of making a simplified version with creatures like this:




Here's a few of mine:




So far I've done a flower, a peapod (which seemed to be all the rage), a weird fantasy animal, a snail, a crowned chicken and a cat. As you can see I've copied some of these directly from the pic above (from Costume in Detail), I just loved the little kitty so much I couldn't resist...anyway considering how lame my embroidery is I thought they turned out ok. Have a ton more to do but it's one of the few things I can do costume-wise around the kids. Although I did catch C trying to cut stuff up while I wasn't looking...the boy has been a holy terror while "sick".
